There are 15 directors on the Board of TIPNG. The position is a non-remunerated position. The directors volunteer their time, expertise and resources to ensure the effective running of TIPNG. TIPNG Board of Directors Participate meaningfully in the organization’s events and other program activities.
The directors are nominated and appointed onto the board during the Annual General Meeting.

LAWRENCE STEPHENS, CHAIRMAN
Experience & Expertise: Lawrence Stephens has worked in government, business, faith-based and non-government organizations in PNG since 1976. His interests include sustainable community, organisational and social development, social and political advocacy, public and NGO governance, management and team leadership. He served as a member of the PNG Industries Assistance Board and the Minimum Wages Board (2000). Current board member of Dove Travel, Rural Airstrip Agency, Word Publishing, Finance Board Catholic Bishops Conference, Finance Committee Archdiocese of Mt Hagen. Stephens has extensive experience in most provinces of PNG. Lawrence Stephens is currently the CEO of the Melanesian Trustee Services Limited.

VALENTINA KAMAN, SECRETARY
Experience & Expertise: Lawyer by profession, over 14 years experience in the petroleum sector, strong legal knowledge of the oil & gas sector. Played a significant role as part of the State Benefit Sharing leadership team and was the youngest and only female team lead to deliver the License Based Sharing Agreement for Gobe Project for the PNG LNG Project. Government relations, corporate community investment & social responsibility. Avid advocate for leadership initiatives and promotion of small medium enterprises.

MICHELLE HAU’OFA, TREASURER
Experience & Expertise: Michelle has a private sector background with over 20-years of experience in property development & management and business development. She is a staunch advocate of corporate and individual social responsibility, and of good and transparent governance. Michelle has gained valuable experience in the public sector and community development while working for Dame Carol Kidu, former Leader of the Opposition and former Minister for Community Development.
Michelle is the Producer of ‘Senisim Pasin’ – a documentary on gender based violence in PNG (Sept 2015 release).

PETER AITSI,MBE – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Peter Aitsi is the Chief Executive Officer of Credit Corporation (PNG). He also served as Country Manager PNG for Newcrest Mining Ltd. He has extensive private sector experience at senior levels and these skills are further strengthened by his long term and ongoing involvement with important community organisations such as Transparency International PNG, Media Council of PNG, City Mission PNG, Badili Club, and Leadership PNG. In 2008 was awarded a MBE for services to the PNG Media Industry. He serves director of various entities including Steamships Trading Ltd, PNGFM Ltd and CPL Group.

FR JOHN GLYNN, OL – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Fr John came to PNG as a teacher in 1963 and taught in Primary and High Schools in New Ireland Province. After studies in Australia, he was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1980 and served in New Ireland and Manus. He retired from teaching in 2000 and moved to Port Moresby where he taught at Pom Grammar and then as Teacher, Chaplain and Counsellor at Jubilee up to the present. Fr John is the Founder and Patron of the Youth Against Corruption Association (YACA) and of the Foundation for Women and Children at Risk (WeCARe!).

RICHARD KASSMAN, OBE – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Richard is one of the founding directors of Transparency International PNG. He has developed a career of 40 years in insurance & risk management, tourism and more recently in the petroleum sector. He has held managerial and Board roles in the private sector, State Owned Enterprises, professional bodies and civil society organizations. In sports, Richard served on the PNG Olympic Committee as the Chef de Mission for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his services to the business sector and the community. He is currently the Director for Corporate Affairs with Total Energy.

BRIAN ALOIS – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Brain has 25 years in the Construction, supervision and maintenance of roads and bridges. He is a civil engineer by profession and also has a Master’s qualification in Business Administration. He is presently the President of the PNG Institute of Engineers PNG and a board member of the Professional Engineers Registration Board. Brian got involved with TIPNG in 2011 when he volunteered to organize the Sir Anthony Siaguru Walk Against Corruption in Lae. Brian was instrumental in the overall planning, coordination and implementation of the Walk since Lae started hosting it.

RENEE SIAGURU – DIRECTOR
Experience and Expertise: Renee is a commercial lawyer with Allens law firm in Port Moresby. Prior to this, Renee worked as a civil litigation lawyer with Warner Shand Lawyers of Lae, Morobe Province. She has gained a lot of experience during her internship with Transparency International PNG in and with the Public Solicitors office.

SAMUEL AHABH – DIRECTOR
Experience and Expertise: A lawyer by profession, Samuel worked with the Steamships Trading Company Ltd in 2016 before he joined Bank South Pacific as legal officer. While still studying law, Samuel did his internship with Transparency International PNG’s Advocacy & Legal Advice Center where his interests in social accountability and inspiring change started. Samuel volunteers his expertise to TIPNG when requested.

MICHAEL MCWALTER, OL – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Michael has over 36 years experience in the oil & gas industry. He first came to PNG in 1976 as a volunteer when he taught at Catholic Mission Fatima in the Jiwaka Province. After working on many petroleum exploration wells in PNG in the 1980s, he joined the Geological Survey of PNG in 1987 rising to the position of Chief Petroleum Geologist. He subsequently became Director of the Petroleum Division in the Department of Mining and Petroleum until 1997 and later Adviser to the Department of Petroleum and Energy until 2006 under World Bank funding. Up to 2014, he was a part-time adviser to the Dept. of Petroleum and Energy and has undertaken frequent assignments for various development agencies. He is Vice-President of the Circum-Pacific Council for Energy and Mineral Resources, Treasurer of the Asia-Pacific Regional Council of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and a lay member of the Finance Board of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of PNG and Solomon Islands. He is an advocate of good governance in the petroleum industry though the establishment of sound institutional management and administration of the sector. Michel was appointed as PNG Government and Commercial Adviser to the Managing Director of Oil Search Ltd on 1st August 2017.

BELINDA KANAU – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Belinda was a former TIPNG team member with the Forest Governance project. Developing an interest for logistics, operations and sales over the years, she worked in various administration and business development roles in the Private sector and SOE as Team Leader and Regional Manager including roles in other NGOs/non-profit organizations, joining Marie Stopes International as Operations Manager after leaving TIPNG and Logistician for International Red Cross Mission of PNG (ICRC) based in Port Moresby before joining Inchcape shipping Services. Belinda is currently based at Lae and looks after the Inchcape and Maersk Line Lae, Madang and Wewak customer base.

PAUL BARKER – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Paul Barker came to Papua New Guinea in January 1978 and was based in the Highlands for five years with the Primary Industry Department. He headed the economics, marketing and statistics Branch of the Primary Industry Dept until 1988, when appointed special economic sector adviser in the Prime Minister’s Department, a post he filled until mid-2004. He was technical adviser with the European Delegation in the Solomon Islands until January 2006, and then appointed Executive Director of the Institute of National Affairs, an independent policy think-tank based in Port Moresby. He has been a director and chaired various State and civil society organisations in PNG, including National Cultural Commission, Higher Education Board, Research and Conservation Foundation and Business Council of PNG.

AKAE PA’ASIA BEACH – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Akae Beach is the founding director of Beach Accounting & Advisory Limited, a cloud-based, socially responsible accounting firm. Akae has been an advisor/consultant for over 19 years with Big 4 chartered accounting experience in PNG, Brisbane and Gold Coast but since 2007 was a corporate consultant, consulting for some large corporate companies in their management team, and the board in the mining, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, retail/wholesale, hospitality, ICT, finance and service industries including clients listed on the stock exchange. In 2015, Akae started Beach Accounting & Advisory Ltd to start investing into affordable products, cloud system software and tools to better service SME clients in Brisbane. In 2017, Akae extended the company’s services to the PNG market to offer affordable solutions for SMEs plus large corporate clients needing Advice, Accounting, finance functions, Internal Audit & Risk Management services. Akae has extensive professional experience and is committed to forging partnerships.

CHRISTOPHER ELPHICK – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Christopher is Executive Director of FairPrice Furniture and Electrical, a small PNG SME business. He is a member and Director of the Nasfund Contributors Savings and Loans Society Ltd (NCSL). Christopher sits on the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board (POMCCI). He is an alumni of the United World College of South East Asia. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Management from the University of Surrey, with majors in Marketing and Management. Christopher is a graduate of the National Superannuation Fund (NASFUND) Trainee Director Program and an awardee of the PNG Institute of Directors’ Young Director of the Year award.

EVAH KUAMIN – DIRECTOR
Experience & Expertise: Evah is a journalist by profession. She currently works for the Department of Works, Northern Region in Lae Morobe Province. Evah is an avid writer. Her passion pofor writing has won her may awards and competitions during her schooling and professional years. Most recently, Evah won an award for her pieces submitted to the Crocodile Prize – the National Literacy Awards of Papua New Guinea . Evah got involved with TIPNG in 2012 when she started volunteering to organize the Sir Anthony Siaguru Walk Against Corruption in Lae. Since then she has always been a great help with assisting in organizing other TIPNG outreach activities in Lae.
